Beclabito Dome and Zibetod Peak

Location Origin Story

This strangely odd geologic formation is known as the Beclabito Dome, located in the Four Corners Region of New Mexico. In the background towering above the dome is Black Rock Ridge and Zibetod Peak. In Diné the word Beclabito translates to “Spring (or water) Under A Rock” which was named such for the many underwater springs which course through this area.

About This Photograph

This strange geological formation was photographed midday during the month of May while Zedekiah was flying and exploring the Four Corners Region near Shiprock, New Mexico.

Image Rarity

The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera.

Zedekiah used the cloud-filtered sunlight to cast a glow on the rich colors of this unusual strata.

Timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.

Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
