Battlement Mountain with its distinctive shape like the battlement of an ancient castle sits between the sharp jagged peaks of Mount Saint Nicholas to the left and Mount Doody in the Cloud Croft Peaks to the right.

About This Photograph

This monochromatic rendition was created on a brilliant midday in April while exploring the Rocky Mountains in the southern part of Glacier National Park.

Image Rarity

The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera. It was taken in inclement atmospheric conditions with a combination of low-hanging cumulus clouds rapidly moving storm front that was difficult to maneuver around.

Zedekiah used the manner in which these clouds shrouded the mountains as a backdrop, a scene that is utterly impossible to predict, timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.

Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
