Location Origin Story

This image occurred 15 minutes after “Blue Morning Mist – Mount Hood” was lensed. Moisture has further evaporated, revealing terrestrial details in the foreground with Mount Hood on the left and the Three Sisters on the right.

The Three Sisters are volcanic peaks that are part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, a segment of the Cascade Range in western North America extending from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. Each more than 10,000 feet (3,000 m) in elevation.

About This Photograph

This serene blue scene was photographed at daybreak in the month of September while Zedekiah was flying and exploring the Wind River in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

Image Rarity

The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera.

Zedekiah took flight before dawn to get to a high enough altitude to film this beautiful alpenglow effect.

Timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.

Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
