Location Origin Story

This is the Colorado River at Dusk. Taken in that special window of evening time where alpenglow colors of the sky interact with the hues of light along the ground. Cutting its way through the western landscape over millions of years, the Colorado River is iconic, synonymous with the historical natural heritage of the North American Continent. The river serpentinely twists and turns through the harsh canyons along the border of Arizona and Nevada.

These lands are harsh and difficult but stark as they may seem they present a wonderful tapestry of color and texture; beautiful reminders of the diversity of shapes, colors, and the natural creativity of our wondrous planet.

About This Photograph

This serene desert lake scene was photographed at sunset during the month of March while Zedekiah was flying and exploring the Mojave Desert along the Colorado River a Lake Mojave.

Image Rarity

The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera.

Zedekiah used the ending light of the evening as a backdrop as it cast long shadows across the desert and river.

Timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.

Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
