Location Origin Story

Above the Continental Divide, over Little Dog Mountain in the Marias Pass, this is the view of the entire Lewis Range in Glacier National Park from its southernmost border. It is very early morning and alpenglow hues color the higher altitude cumulonimbus clouds with vibrant pastels, fleetingly moving from one cloud bank to the next as the sun rises higher over the horizon.

To the left of the image, the domineering rock pinnacle of Mount Saint Nicholas stands out above the Lewis Range. In the vast wilderness this scene encompasses, we can see the following landmarks throughout the park; Gunsight Mountain, Almost a Dog Mountain, Blackfoot Mountain, Three Suns Mountain, Going to the Sun Mountain, Red Eagles Mountain, and a host of other prominent mountains that make up this iconic national park.

About This Photograph

This extraordinary scene was filmed by Zedekiah from his bush plane at daybreak one June morning while flying and exploring the area south Glacier National Park.

Image Rarity

The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera. It was taken in inclement atmospheric conditions with a combination of low-hanging cumulus clouds rapidly moving storm front that was difficult to maneuver around.

Zedekiah used the manner in which these clouds shrouded the mountains as a backdrop, a scene that is utterly impossible to predict, timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.

This image comes with a very rare Cinematic Provenance Film made to illustrate how the photograph was acquired.

Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
