Location Origin Story
The mysterious and otherworldly Monument Valley glows a purple hue under the dark clouds of an Autumn rainstorm. In the foreground is Hoskinnini Mesa with a lone towering Hoodoo formation standing strong against the elements and in the background under a low lying cloud layer is the mystical and spiritually inspiring Monument Valley, (“Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii”, for “valley of the rocks“).
Hoskinnini Mesa was named after the First Nations Diné leader, Hashké neiní, (Diné for” The Angry One” ) who was born close by in the Monument Valley area.

About This Photograph
This dark mysterious scene was photographed in the late afternoon during the month of November while Zedekiah was flying and exploring the Four Corners area near Monument Valley Utah.
Image Rarity
The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera.
Zedekiah used the dark storm clouds to filter the sunlight and the reflection of the desert colors off the base of the clouds as a backdrop.
Timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.
Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
