Ibex Peak Over Bull River in Mid Winter
Location Origin Story
In this frozen winter wonderland vision of the Bull River below the Cabinet Mountains, snowy woodlands silently surround the barely moving Bull River. A tributary of the Clark Fork River, the Bull River flows through the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness Area in the Kaniksu National Forest.
The river and the surrounding area are the native lands of the First Nations Kootenai Tribe. They used the Cabinet Mountains as seasonal hunting grounds for mountain goats, elk, and mules. Camping along the shores and forests in these lush wild lands, they collected plants in the woods, meadows, and river banks, which they used for food and medicine.
