The Jagged Pinnacle of Mount Saint Nicholas

Location Origin Story

This precipitous, spectacular horn rising dramatically above the surrounding mountains of Glacier National Park is Mount Saint Nicholas. Located deep in the backcountry in the southwestern corner of the park.

It is a particularly steep, jagged, and sharply pointed, pinnacled peak with a distinctive profile that is visible from many places throughout the Rocky Mountains across northwestern Montana and can be easily viewed all the up to the North Fork Valley at the Canadian Border. About This Photograph

This magnificent scene was filmed by Zedekiah from his bush plane early one May morning. Flying and exploring the Crown of the Continent area over the North Fork of the Flathead River in Glacier National Park.

Image Rarity

The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera. It was taken in inclement atmospheric conditions with a combination of low-hanging cumulus clouds rapidly moving storm front that was difficult to maneuver around.

Zedekiah used the manner in which these clouds shrouded the mountains as a backdrop, a scene that is utterly impossible to predict, timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.

This image comes with a very rare Cinematic Provenance Film made to illustrate how the photograph was acquired.

Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
