Location Origin Story
Zion National Park, north along the western edge of the park all the way up to Red Top Mountain. Lensed late in the evening after the sun has set, the cold of mid-winter grips the rugged and foreboding formations that make up this iconic landscape. There are very few places on the planet that look so remote and otherworldly.

About This Photograph
This dark mountainous scene was photographed in the early evening during the month of November while Zedekiah was flying and exploring the Lewis Range in Glacier National Park around Gunsight Mountain.
Image Rarity
The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera.
It was taken in inclement atmospheric conditions with a combination of low-hanging cumulus clouds rapidly moving storm front that was difficult to maneuver around.
Zedekiah used the glowing light of clouds as a reflected backdrop, where timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.
Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
