Nínaiistáko ~ Chief Mountain ~ Panorama

This towering peak to the right is a spiritual center to First Nations Blackfoot, who call the mountain “Nínaiistáko”.  Geologically, this is a klippe; a remnant portion of a nappe that has been highly eroded by the elements over eons. To the left runs a chain of jutting formations called Ninaki, Papoose, Cable Mountain, Yellow Mountain, and Sherburne Peak to the left. This scene is located on the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains Lewis Range, on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, home to the Siksikaitsitapi.
