North Blue Flat
Location Origin Story
Along the eastern boundary of the Capitol Reef National Park lay foreboding badlands and otherworldly formations. Along the north side of the Fremont River where it meets the Deep Creek, lies the enigmatic formation called Blue Flats with its colorful outcroppings and strange bluish grey and black shale.
This area is part of the Freemont River Canyon between the Capitol Reef National Park and Blue Gate.

About This Photograph
This dark, deeply mystical scene was photographed in the evening during the month of October while Zedekiah was flying and exploring the Upper Blue Hills along the North Cainville Reef area in the South Desert of Utah.
Image Rarity
The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera.
Zedekiah used the ending light of the evening as a vignette effect which required multiple passes to get the scene correct.
Timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.
Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
