Location Origin Story
Looking to the northeast across Waterpocket Fold in the lower foreground, you can see where the canyon splits sharply off to the east at Wildcat Mesa and the aptly named Elbow Of Sandy. To the right of the image lies Tarantula Mesa and across the distance is the San Rafael Desert and to the top right is Robbers Roost Flats.
This is the strange twisting lands of southern Utah, a beautifully jumbled geological playground containing some of the most unusual geologic formations on earth.

About This Photograph
This dark and mystical scene was filmed in the mid-afternoon in the month of November while Zedekiah was flying and exploring Capitol Reef National Park and the Waterpocket Fold in the deep rugged South desert in Utah.
Image Rarity
The image was taken from a moving aircraft, as Zedekiah piloted the aircraft while simultaneously operating the camera.
It was difficult atmospheric conditions with storm clouds all around and gusting winds which made it very hard to focus the image.
Zedekiah used the ending light of the evening as a backdrop, where timing and being in the place-in-space for this scene to reveal itself was crucial to this image composition.
Lastly, it is impossible to simply walk up a trail and take the same photograph again. This image was very difficult to create, and is truly one-of-a-kind, therefore making it extremely rare.
