Tarantula Mesa

Looking to the northeast across Waterpocket Fold in the lower foreground, you can see where the canyon splits sharply off to the east at Wildcat Mesa and the aptly named Elbow Of Sandy. To the right of the image lies Tarantula Mesa and across the distance is the San Rafael Desert and to the top right is Robbers Roost Flats.
This is the strange twisting lands of southern Utah, a beautifully jumbled geological playground containing some of the most unusual geologic formations on earth. For the full story on this image visit the corresponding page on Where Eagles Fly

As with numerous scenes from the collection, this image makes a beautiful wall mural.
